Review: Essential Teen Study Bible & Giveaway

Are you looking for a quality study Bible for your teens? Let’s review and consider the Essential Teen Study Bible (HSCB). Also, in recognition of “Give a Bible Away Day” and “Bring Your Bible to School Day,” I’m giving a free copy of this Bible to one of you. Giveaway details are below. But first, allow me to share with you a little about this unique Bible.

The Outside

Measuring 7.50 inches x 5.50 inches and weighing less than two pounds makes the Essential Teen Study Bible (HSCB) is easy to carry. This particular copy has a soft, tan LeatherTouch cover with etched designs on the front. It looks great but the best part is on the inside.

The Inside

This is my first review of a Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB). Biblegateway.com says this about the HCSB.

“The Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB) is a trusted, original translation of God’s Word. A team of more than 100 scholars from 17 denominations pursued two ideals with every translation decision: each word must reflect clear, contemporary English and each word must be faithful to the original languages of the Bible.”

Also, a few Southeastern Baptist Seminary graduates spoke highly of this version as well.

The full text of this HCSB consists of a 7-point text. The words spoken by Christ are in red letters. In addition, each book of the Bible is introduced and includes study notes.

In the beginning pages, the Admit, Believe, Confess plan of salvation is presented.

Furthermore, there are 146 devotions that focus on redemption. Many of these include extra notes about essential doctrines. I love this important feature. The devotions aren’t cheese puffs, either. They’re solid chunks of spiritual meat, yet they’re easy to digest.

Other cool features

Likewise, there are more other cool features inside:

  • A Redemption Thread feature from Genesis to Revelation to help readers understand how the text points to Jesus Christ.
  • A Respond feature that offers life application guidance.
  • A Behind the Story feature gives additional information for better understanding.
  • An Essential Questions feature with the “answers students are looking for.”
  • Memory Verses
  • Full-Color Maps
  • A Topical Concordance

The Recommendation

Thus far, based on my experience with teen study Bibles, this is one of the best Bibles I’ve seen. I ordered this one from ChristianBook.com for less than ten dollars during their half-off Bible sale. Most certainly, that’s a fantastic price for this well-made Bible.

I recommend this Bible for middle-grade through young adults. While some of the devotions are written for readers who still live under parental guidance; most of the ones I read pertain to people of all ages.

The Giveaway

Finally, who would like to win a free copy of The Essential Teen Study Bible (HCSB)? On October 11, 2019, I’ll randomly choose a winner from my blog’s mailing list. If you want your name in the hat twice, make sure you’re on my email list and leave a comment below.

What should you comment about?

How about telling us what version(s) of the Bible you like to read—KJV, NKJV, NIV, HCSB, NASB…?

We have a winner! Congratulations to Shanon B. of NC! I’ll be in touch about the delivery of your Bible.

Several years ago, I was attending a couples Bible study with four other couples. When one of the ladies read from her Bible, it always spoke to my soul. I finally asked her what version she had and she said it was the ESV. I told her how much I liked it when she read from it. About a month later, I received a package in the mail and she had sent me a leather bound edition of the Bible in the ESV version. I’m still using it and think of her generosity every time I look at it.
