    Not a Speaker But Called to Speak

    / 2 Comments

    What do you do when you’re not a speaker but someone has called asking you to speak? Perhaps you’ve been asked to speak to a group of three hundred, or thirty, or just three. If your first thought is to decline because you’re scheduled to scrub toilets that day, then this post is for you. I’m writing this post as a reminder to myself as well. My Writing: Reflecting on 2022 and Revving Up for 2023

    / 5 Comments

    Even though there’s a writing category on this blog, I’ve noticed I don’t often post about my writing journey. But, I’ve been reading several other writers’ blog posts this week and I love what they’re sharing. I’m encouraged when they share how they’re progressing through their writing struggles and l enjoy learning about their latest endeavors. Since some of you contact me throughout the year with questions about writing and blogging, I thought this first week in January, I’d create a post about what’s going on with my writing. Reflecting on 2022 is really revving me up for the new year!

    A Legacy of Kind Words

    I only have one photo of my maternal grandmother holding me. Because she passed away when I was a toddler, I do not remember her. However, during my whole life numerous people have shared with me their memories of my grandmother. The two comments I have heard the most are: “She was my favorite teacher.” “I never heard her speak unkindly about anyone.” Since childhood, that last comment has stuck with me. I remember thinking, Wow, years after I'm gone, I want people to say that I did not speak unkindly about anyone. I longed to continue a legacy of kind words. Surely, my grandmother had taxing days teaching high…

    BUNNY FINDS EASTER is Not About Bunnies {Book Review & Giveaway}

    / 9 Comments

    If you’re looking for a new Easter book, BUNNY FINDS EASTER is not about bunnies! Well, at least not the mythical Easter bunny, anyway. A 2022 release from Zonderkidz, this board book contains eighteen pages of joy and delight for little ones. Laura Sassi is an award-winning author of six picture books, including the best-selling Goodnight Ark, a 2015 Christian Book Award Finalist. I have a feeling BUNNY FINDS EASTER will also be a success. Let me tell you why.

    3 Ways Our Words Can Make a Difference

    / 9 Comments

    Whether you’re an aspiring writer/speaker, or not, I believe we all want our words to make a difference in the world. We want our words to be meaningful to our coworkers, our employers, and in our communities. But, also, we long for our words to make a difference in the lives of our friends and our families. How can we overcome our fears and use our words to make a difference?
