A Twist of Faith on Random Acts of Kindness

Have you ever been blessed by an act of Christian kindness? Random acts of kindness are fun to give and receive. Kindness breaks through barriers. It changes lives. This post, however, has an intentional Christian element. I wrote this post several years ago, and because of its popularity, I am reposting it. BRICK BUILDERS Illustrated Bible Review & Giveaway

Zonderkidz sent the BRICK BUILDERS Illustrated Bible for me to review and to give away to one of my blog readers. It will not hit the store shelves until December, so you could win a copy before everyone else gets one! Apparently, faith-based toy brick–building books are hot items. NIrV Faith Builders Bible and Building Faith Brick by Brick: An Imaginative Way to Explore the Bible with Children are two more examples. However, today, we’re reviewing the BRICK BUILDERS Illustrated Bible . Within its 224 pages, there is a retelling of thirty-five stories taken from the Bible. At the end of each story, there is a “Building Block” section which contains…

/ Comments Off on 30 Days of Serving & Sharing: Faithfulness & Joy

by Sally Matheny Today we’ll relish the last portion of our four-part series, 30 Days of Serving & Sharing: Faithfulness & Joy. If you missed the previous posts, they offer a total of sixty ideas of family activities. I’ve included the links to those at the bottom. Serving with Faithfulness “It is only by fidelity in little things that a true and constant love of God can be distinguished from a passing fervor of spirit.” -Francois Fenelon November is typically a month when people pause with more thoughts of thankfulness. The challenge here was to couple that attitude with action. We’re grateful for food, so some have shared groceries with…

    30 Days of Serving & Sharing: Patience & Self-Control

by Sally Matheny We’re delving into our next portion of 30 Days of Serving & Sharing. The focus this week is on patience and self-control. Oh, mercy! Perhaps I should have asked someone else to guest blog for me on this one. Patience “The ability to remain calm when dealing with a difficult or annoying situation, task, or person,” – the kids’ definition from Merriam-Webster.com Self-control “The restraint exercised over one’s own impulses, emotions, or desires.” -Merriam-Webster.com Let’s gather the family and discuss ways we can serve and share with others that may require our patience and self-control. This is where sacrificial giving comes in. Here are a few ideas…

30 Days of Serving and Sharing: Goodness & Kindness

Expressing thirty days of gratitude is wonderful. However, out of that gratitude let’s also focus on 30 days of serving and sharing. Some folks concentrate on this in November, but we can put this project into practice at any point during the year. In this post, our focus is on doling out goodness and kindness.
