GOD’S BLESSINGS OF FALL {Book Review}

Let’s usher in autumn with a GOD’S BLESSINGS OF FALL picture book review. This children’s picture book appeared in the bookstores just as the red leaves emerged on the trees.

Plus, the author has kindly offered a free copy of this book as a giveaway to one of you!

About the Author

“Jean Matthew Hall is a retired teacher and principal. Her bio states, “she has spent most of her life singing songs, reading books, playing games, cutting, coloring and gluing with children of all ages. And, she loves it! Creating encouraging board books and picture books is her idea of fun, but her favorite times are spent with her eight grandchildren.”

Jean says she’s been a believer in Jesus for more than fifty years. She adds, “I’m so glad He still loves me, forgives me, and teaches me new things about Himself and myself.”

GOD’S BLESSINGS OF FALL is the first in her Bountiful Blessings picture book series about the four seasons.

Jean’s writing is entertaining and uplifting. I’m glad there are three more of her books coming out in the near future.

GOD’S BLESSINGS OF FALL Content

This charming story takes little ones on a sensory hike through the woods. Young readers will “hear” the whooshing of owl wings, “smell” the rusty, dusty leaves, and “taste” the sour tang of green apples. And that’s just a small sampling of the content in this book.

Also, we follow the trek of a variety of woodland animals as they collect suitable and savory “fall snacks.” Children may see a snack they enjoy as well.

Then, we learn how several of the animals nestle in their homes during the cooler weather.

In case you’re wondering, the religious references in this book are God’s name in the title, in the dedication, and in the last line of the book which states, “Fall is full of God’s blessings.”

A squirrel steps lightly, slightly on crisp leaves.

Crackle. Crunch.

He snatches fallen acorns and nuts, and stuffs them

into his chubby cheeks. His little nose twitches.

His bushy tail swishes. His tiny feet leap and

scamper to the top of the tallest tree.

The beautiful illustrations are done in bright watercolors by Russian artist, Olya Badulina. She captures the colorful essence of God’s creatures and foliage.

The Recommendation

The publisher, Little Lamb Books, publishes many, wonderful books written with a Christian worldview. Remember the review of Teeny Sweeny and the Mustache Cash?

GOD’S BLESSINGS OF FALL will appeal to families of all denominations. I recommend it for children ages five and under. They’ll enjoy learning how animals move, gather food and prepare to sleep. It’s bound to be a great bedtime story for little ones.
