BUNNY FINDS EASTER is Not About Bunnies {Book Review & Giveaway}

If you’re looking for a new Easter book, BUNNY FINDS EASTER is not about bunnies! Well, at least not the mythical Easter bunny, anyway.

A 2022 release from Zonderkidz, this board book contains eighteen pages of joy and delight for little ones.

The Author

Laura Sassi is an award-winning author of six picture books, including the best-selling Goodnight Ark, a 2015 Christian Book Award Finalist.

A graduate of Princeton University and UCLA, Sassi had a successful teaching career before becoming a children’s author. She has experience as a homeschool mom, children’s ministry director, historic museum interpreter, and more.

I’ve reviewed several of Laura Sassi’s books, including two of my favorites: LOVE IS KIND, and DIVA DELORES AND THE OPERA HOUSE MOUSE.

I have a feeling BUNNY FINDS EASTER will also be a success. Let me tell you why.

The Illustrations in BUNNY FINDS EASTER

If you grew up loving the illustrations of the Little Golden Books’ classic characters, (think The Pokey Puppy and The Little Red Hen), then, you’ll fall in love again with the colorful illustrations in BUNNY FINDS EASTER.

It seems like the same little red hen makes an appearance in this book. Or, perhaps it’s a granddaughter who favors her!

Nonetheless, I found the illustrations refreshing for children while giving a warm nod to nostalgic parents and grandparents.

BUNNY FINDS EASTER isn’t about bunnies. It’s about Jesus.

The Contents of BUNNY FINDS EASTER

Another delightful aspect of this book is the main character is a bunny and the setting is during Easter. Yet, this story is different.

Readers tag along with Bunny as she experiences signs of spring and Easter. After enjoying hot cross buns, Bunny has time to decorate a few eggs before she walks with her mother and father to church. On the way, she sees pretty flowers, baby animals, and an egg hunt.

Then, Bunny’s family sings “the Easter news” after arriving at their church. The name of Jesus is clearly stated and the fact that He is what Easter is all about.

Recommendation & Giveaway

I love this book. The illustrations are precious. Plus, the rhyming text is engaging and it offers biblical truth. It would make a great gift for children age five and under.

The publisher kindly sent me a copy to give away. We’ll conduct the giveaway like we usually do. We’lll randomly select a name from this blog’s email subscriber list on March 25, 2022. If you’d like your name placed in the basket two times, then be on the subscriber list and leave a comment below.

As we prepare for the arrival of spring, I’m wondering if there are other springtime books you recommend for children?

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

Winner, Winner–Chicken Dinner! I just had to use that celebratory phrase because the email subscriber who was randomly selected has “amazing chicken” in their email address!

I don’t have a name, but we know they’re from Burns, Wyoming. I’ll email them about winning the book and to find out their amazing chicken recipe! 🙂
