If you’re looking for a biblically based book honoring the unique design of every child, then consider GOD CHOSE ME!: Celebrating Who God Made Me to Be.
The Author
According to her website, lexahle.com, Lexa Hale is a “devoted Christian, mother, grandmother, and storyteller with a heart for beauty, truth, and the wonder of childhood.”
A talented collage artist and jewelry designer, Lexa began writing children’s books and poetry around the time of her grandson, Calvin’s, birth. Lexa began crafting stories and poetry that speak to both children and their parents. She frequently contributes to Focus on the Family’s Clubhouse, Jr. magazine.
GOD CHOSE ME! is Hale’s first published book. You’ll find cute color sheets that go along with the story at https://lexahale.com/creative-corner/
About GOD CHOSE ME!
Paraclete Press is the publisher of this 14-page board book written for ages 0 – 5.
Based on Genesis 1:27, this vibrantly illustrated rhyming board book helps little ones understand that God thoughtfully created them with love and purpose. With Bible-based messages, even the youngest readers will hear affirmations that they are wonderfully made, cherished by God, and unique in His eyes.
Readers tag along with six children visiting a zoo. They enjoy seeing animals in a variety of habitats.
The rhyming text and sweet illustrations remind us that God creates every unique detail in each person and animal. He makes no mistakes, and He loves and cares about each of us.
“The best choice God made
Was what I should be . . .
A boy? Or a girl?And God chose . . . ME!”

What I Especially Like
I appreciate how the artist, Dana Regan, used bright, cheery colors to illustrate children with various skin tones and attributes. One child sits in a wheelchair, and another child wears glasses.
I like the biblically-based, sweet reminder of how thoughtfully and wonderfully God creates each person. He chose every detail, from eye and hair color to the sound of our laughs. He makes no mistakes. Every decision has a purpose.
This book would be a great gift for a baby shower or a child’s birthday. It would make a great addition to the libraries in Christian schools, churches, and homes.

What a beautiful message. I love the idea of celebrating our differences—and one another’s—the way they were meant to be celebrated: as gifts from God.
